The Phoenix is the anomaly due to the bigger range of non Gallery Rifle and Pistol events in it. So how would it compare if the Phoenix only included competitions that are in the other GRAW events?

An interesting comparison is 2009 with 2013. That shows entries remain about the same, with about 20% less competitors in 2013. That is not making the sport more accessible for all, its making it elitist. Which is not a shooting competition, its a wealth competition.

The graphs do look as though there is a bit of a downturn. Certainly entrant figures have gone back 7 or 8 years. This would concur with the statement of a number of shooters over the year that say they are cutting back on the number of shoots they plan to attend due to price increases. It would be interesting to see how the entry fees for the GR events have changed. If this has remained flat or shows a slight increase due to less people but more disciplines and higher fees, a decrease in fees would encourage more entry’s and entrants and income would probably either stay the same or show an increase too but would have a positive effect on the sport overall.
