Budleigh Farm Steels – Results
Results of the Budleigh Farm Spring Steels match are posted.
This year’s meeting was very well attended meeting with 57 contestants and eight new Freshman. Of these, a couple of well renowned shooters showed their abilities at this new competition style and made it straight into X class (as they should) with a very creditable third place competitor going straight into A class. Worth a mention are a couple of members of the Tunnel Shooting club – practical rifle shooters whose scores take them up into A & B class. I am sure we will see them again with some of their club mates once they have reported back.
C class was dominated by Pinhoe taking trophies, the others progressing up to B, where Pinhoe also took the top two slots, congratulations to East Bristol members who took third and all of them progress up to A.
A class was the most highly contended the top slot from Two Rivers shooting club progressing up to X class,
So, with so many high class shooters now entering the competition the top slot is hotly contested. A previous Rimfire Festival trophy winner on his freshman attempt, could only make third place this time. And second place was unlucky to have a jam during one of the speed matches which put them in second place. But this year’s deserving champion, with a highly creditable 3000 points was a Frome and District Pistol Club shooter of high regard.
It is also worth noting that the last three in X class all scored the same amount in which case it is the person who scored the highest amount at the furthest distance, 70 metres, which dictates the placement.
You will note that three brave souls also attempted the entire course with LBPs. There is no trophy for this part and, as the competition is becoming more popular, there might not be spaces available in future events.
