Results and prize lists for the Spring Action Meeting now published on the 2013 results page.
Scores database also updated.
The current rankings are now available up to and including the 2013 SAW. These are based on the best 4 scores from a 12 month rolling calendar with the year end AAW each year. This makes it easier to follow, for example after SAW 2013 the SAW 2012 scores will drop off. All results are on the sheets even those who have not shot four matches. This will allow everyone see what their lowest score is to improve on and check that they have 4 eligible.
It is intended to produce the rankings after each graded match so everyone can see where they are as the years progresses. The final ranking after the AAW will give us our end of year ranking, so we will see who is ranked No1 for 2013.
The National Ranking table will be produced after each graded GR meeting on a rolling 14 months with the best four scores to count.
Competitors will be able see any time their National Ranking, just like with any other sport and try to achieve a higher and higher ranking over the months or years. Competitors will be able to see the highest National Ranking they have ever achieved, always something to try to better :-). It will also be of use to team captains when it comes to picking national squads.
At the end of each shooting season, AAW, we will have a final ranking table for 2013.
The final table will be produced from scores from Aug 2012 to AAW 2013 inclusive.
The Ranking table will be for the following:
T&P1 CF / SB / LBR / LBP
M-T CF / SB / LBR / LBP
1500 CF / SB
The Spring Action Weekend is fast approaching and being shot over the weekend of the 23-24 March essentially kicks off the Gallery Rifle season. However its closely followed by three shoots throughout April which all offer classified GR&P opportunities and should not be overlooked. These, as well as a steels match, are all listed in the calendar with full details should anybody which to investigate fully.
The Army Target Shooting (ATSC) Club’s annual Club Championships and Open Meeting is back to its usual mid April timeslot for 2013 – 13-14 April. The meeting contains a mixture of ISSF air, Black Powder pistol and Gallery Rifle events so caters for a wide range of shooting over the weekend.
For Gallery Rifle shooters the Army is offering 50m precision, America Match, T&P1 and Multi Target as well as 1500 events for all gun types. Entry forms available to download now. The Basildon Open is tucked away in the early part of the season straddled between the SAW and the Phoenix. Its an easy meeting to bypass. However with a full range of events including The 1500, all the shorts and the Grand – available for all gun types and for Open and Classic shooters it should definitely not be overlooked.
Entry could not be easier this year with the Basildon organisers joining the Internet revolution and on-line methods being offered.

Don’t forget to bring your competency certification card as you will be required to produce this before you can shoot. In addition, if you are shooting Shotgun, LBR or LBP you will need to produce your Firearm Certificate.
Please let me know as soon as you can if you are able to help out at the Spring Action Weekend. As well as NRA qualified RCOs we also are very happy to have any other helpers, regardless of experience, to lend a hand. If you have not worked on a range crew before you will learn a lot and contribute to the success of the meeting
There will be a day or two prior to the meeting for ROs to shoot their events. Food and accommodation will be provided as well in line with the number of days you can give us.
Here is the link to the on line RO registration form. Please use it as it makes the process of collecting all the data so much easier.
There are some new rules and event conditions for 2013 so please check the on line copy of the handbook. (Please note: the one at the NRA website currently points to the 2012 edition)
The rules on foot fault lines have been clarified, especially for the Bianchi barricade match.
Some changes including revised gun types. There is also a TSG Rulebook as part of the Bisley Bible now.
A new two person shoot off for .22 rifles and pistols. You’ll find it on Stickledown on the Speed Steels range. Go to Galleryrifle.com for a description.
Please make sure you tell us in advance if you want to use a rifle with a muzzle break or will be using HME ammunition.
Eye protection is mandatory. Shatterproof glasses must be worn which provide adequate protection at the sides as well as the front. If they do not, you must use additional side protection in the form of slip on shields or similar. Slip on side shields will be available at reception with profits going to a charity for visually impaired shooters.
Hope to see you there.

Meeting Director
The Handbook is in the usual format again for 2013. Its gone to press – thank the gods…..
Thanks to all our sponsors and advertisers, contributors, proof readers, checkers and generally interested parties. There is bound to be the odd error or typo. If you find any please let us know via the usual channels.
The handbook is available in the following electronic formats and all being well will be available in hardcopy from the NRA by the time the Spring Action Weekend comes around on the 22-24 March
This is a weekend offering ISSF air pistol, black powder and gallery rifle shooting over the weekend of the 13th and 14th April.
Its a small meeting but could benefit with a few more shooters from the GR community coming along and having a go. Prices are reasonable and the gallery rifle part of the shoot is classified. This year a 1500 is also included in the schedule for the first time.
Entry forms are now available for download. All competitions being held in familiar territory on Melville unless you are partaking in some of the ISSF 10m air pistol stuff which will mean a short trek over to Lord Roberts.
The ATSC Open is well worth a look and its the only shoot I know where high tea is provided before prizegiving at the Army clubhouse. Very civilised all round.

Mike Chinery from Stocade Products showing off the Volquartsen LBP’s at the British Shooting Show 2013.
Good to see everyone at the show. Thanks to everyone who popped by to see Jim, Pete, Les and Neil on the Great Britain Gallery Rifle stand. Between ourselves, The FCSA, UKBR22 and Target Sports magazine we seemed to be busy throughout most of the weekend.
We took a few donations for the GB Team funds, shifted over 250 Gallery Rifle handbooks and hundreds of flyers advertising all competitions and events being hosted over the year.
Next year the show is on at the same venue over the weekend of the 15th/16th February 2014.
